I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Hi there, could anybody tell me what type of Lucas Magneto would have been fitted as standard to a 1934 Model Z, I would assume its the same as the  Z1 but may be wrong. The jigsaw puzzle I'm working on came with most of a Lucas MN2 but this doesn't seem to tally with the few photographs I've seen on other Model Zs.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks
Chris

Bonhams had this 34 Z1 with the magdyno more or less visible

Hopethishelps ?

Thanks a lot for that it helps a great deal as far as it rules out the MN2 magneto which has a much more angular profile. I should be able to narrow it down from there.

Is the spindle height of this MN2 in the ballpark.

If you don't require the generator piggybacked up top, it could work ?
Total loss electrics for daytime only riding is not impossible.

Luckily very close to the correct height and what with slight adjustments to the feet and the strange drive coupling they employed the alignment should be no problem. Also the MN is designed to have a piggy backed dynamo for power.

I'm wondering if you have the correct part, and the douglas pic above has a later magdyno installed ?
Without seeing what the parts list* specified - *if they exist ?

Hi again sorry about the delay in replying, no there doesn't seem to be a spec for any part of the Model Z / Wessex bikes. I have managed to track down a couple of photographs which show something of the mag dynamo, unfortunately from strange angles, and they seem to show what looks like either the MN2 or MOL model which I can only track down as a single cylinder version. I think I am going to have to stick to my MN magneto and keep looking for the correct Cam end cover to replace my damaged one.

Thanks for your help on this

Ouch yes it is a bit pricey. Luckily mine is all but complete with the only damaged piece I'm having difficulty replacing being the and piece which housed the ring cam and points assembly. I've been looking for quite some time now without success but you never mind the show and sales season will be kicking in soon so I may find what I need.
