I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Unfortunately my comp blew a head gasket this afternoon and I don't have a spare. I was out giving it a good run to make sure it would be ok for the Cavalcade tomorrow - clearly not. If anyone is going to Bristol tomorrow who could help me out with a spare, I will be able to get it back on the road for Monday.

Cheers,

Hi Neil,  I'll bring two with me tomorrow. Hope to be at Bristol by about 9.30. If you're quick with the spanners, you may even be able to join in the splash around the lanes!!

Thanks for your help Eddie, after what you said about the powder coating I decided to take a bit of time to remove it from the seats before fitting the head back on. Discretion being the better part of valour and all that, (honestly it' s not because its raining cats & dogs) I'm taking it out for a short run, will tighten up, allow to cool then reset the tappets & hopefully all will be ok. See you tomorrow.
