I am pretty desperate for a rear cylinder for my veteran Douglas 1917 2 3/4hp "W" model.   I there is anyone who may have one of these that can be re-sleeved or know where I may find one I would be very pleased for the help.  I have a number of engine parts that I can exchange such as matching crankcases, conrods, crankshaft, flywheel etc. Any help appreciated.

Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

hi all,

try to get hold of the new issue of the Classic Motorcycle; it features a 7 page article about the early history of Douglas. It concerns the models up to 1926 and is the first in a line of four articles celebrating the 100th anniversery of our beloved brand.

lots of lovely pics of the veteran models (starting from Chris' 1911 Model D)

the next article will appear in the august issue.

Good article, but unfortunately, in my magazine at least, the pictures are dreadfully pixalated. The lining on Alan Commbes 3 1/2 tank looks like a dotted line! Shame.

mine is the same,

looks like they scanned 'traditional' photos. the pixels from the scan and the printing-proces then produce a Moiré-effect, resulting in some thing like this...

the straight lines seem to be the problem; on some pics, like the detail of the model D (p. 49), you can see very single raindrop...!
