600 1937 aero centre stand

can anyone help? my centre stand and footrests are a bodge up and seem to be badly thought out! can I ask for a picture of these parts or a sketch showing what's missing and how it should be? thank you! David

I have a drawing for the S6 stand, and can probably adjust it for the Aero dimensions.

Can probably do something about photos of the foot rest stand-offs tomorrow.

many thanks Doug, the main feet seem ok and resemble your pics, how does the stand oscillate , what should be the stop pins and what do the fulcrum sleeves that the brake pedal and footrest look like ?? regards david

Here are some pictures of the footrest extensions/center stand trunions. Somewhere around here I have drawings for the trunions, as these need renewing (as can be seen).









The flats on the trunions engage with the vertical slot of the frame lug. The lug projection at the 2-o'clock position acts as the center stand stop.

Did you ever find the drawings of the footrest extensions/stand trunnions?
After ten years, I have got back into the S6 project. (Had a little health issue, so now retired and playing in the shed)
Even a sketch with measurements would be fine.

Hi Doug,

 I have a further question to the above if I may? I have to make all these parts, but what actually holds the stand in the Up position please, i.e. is it a spring or some kind of clip, and if so, where does it live and how does it work?

Doug,

A a hairpin spring slips over the hub of the brake pedal; one leg loops around the brake pedal and the other the eyelet of the center stand. It servs as both the centerstand spring and the brake return spring. Some duplex frame models where the center stand and foot rest did not share a common lug had the spring loop over the engine frame tube for an anchorage. The LDMCC prewar spares have carried these center stand springs in the past, but I am not sure which type (large or small loop for the anchorage) that they carried. The one shown is the actual spring from my 1936 Aero 600. There is not clip to hold the center stand in the up position.
