Just going through the carbs on my 600 ohv Douglas, before I run it for my first time. I have a 6/4 throttle slide in one and a 6/3 in the other. Which one is right please.

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian,

They're big carbs: are we talking a 1930-ish DT/SW6?

AMAL lists 6/3 as the slide for a 500cc DT, but the AMAL literature I have doesn't mention the 600. Everything else 500 ohv uses a smaller '4' carb.

Thanks Leon,
Pity it wasn't the other way round, I could have filed the cutout to suit.
The bike has a DT engine, it was Henry Body's first sprint sidecar outfit, when he finished sidecar grass track.
One carb was a 74 and the other a 276 modified with primary air drillings in the base of the body and a 74 type jet block fitted.
Neither carb had any form of pilot air system, both types having been blocked off. I guess it wasn't a requirement if racing on dope.
I had a spare 276 body and jet block, so I'm replacing the 74.
I bought another second hand 276 jet block and have installed that in the 276 that had previously been modified with the primary air holes.
I'll get a throttle slide 3 and see how it runs, could be interesting.
Thanks again,

Cheers

Ian
