Hi Friends
Just thought you could share some info re my 1951 MK V headlight which  has an under slung pilot light, could this be for that year of production?     Thanks Phil.

That type of underslung pilot lamp headlamp appeared for 1954, according to the Lucas bible.
Nowadays often see it fitted to earlier models, as a 'style' improvement, or after some damage.

If it all works OK, I'd keep it.
Part of its history, most likely ?

Yes, it was standard on the late Mk5's. It came worryingly close to the front mudguard on full compression of the front forks - even hitting the front numberplate if that had been fitted the wrong way round!!

  Regards,
               Eddie.

Hi All
Thanks for your responses. as I have not see any of this type of pilot light fitted, so I will sharpen up my observations.
Fitting of a front number plate as suggested could be a major issue. Phil.
