1926 350 EW the saga of the bent clutch springs

I think I have been here before a few years ago but have not found the post with the search function
In any case I did not solve it as now as I complete a big rebuild of my engine I face the problem again
when I do up the outer flywheel nut to compress the 4 springs they cant over and deform
looking at other pictures on this forum of EW clutches I begin to think have incorrect components
the retainer on the clutch is just a collar should it have two indents?
the retainer under the nut has no indents should it? and as can be seen by the yellow lines it has a bigger central hole than the nut centre
You can see by the springs that they are deformed by the closing of the nut

There should be some dimples to stop the inner washer/cup from spinning with the clutch spring adjustment nut.  The the pics in this post:
