Mk5 centre stand spring

I am reassembling a mk5 and am having trouble trying to locate the anchor point of the upper end of the centre stand return spring.
Can some kind soul enlighten me?

Thanks Jonathan, that makes sense now as I wanted to fitted the stand and return spring before fitting the engine/g.box.
