Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Hi
The club list's a  "Fairy" Transfer/Decal,  not sure which type it is but hope this is of help.

Thank you for your response.  I wrote the London Club earlier this week about these and also to join.  I haven't heard back so I thought I would reach out here.

Hi Brant,
Hope you caught up with the thread here about Fairys: https://www.douglasmotorcycles.net/index.php?topic=6560.0
How about posting a photo or two?
Leon

The bike has been posted here before by the previous owner.  I intend to take it a little further by adding the transfers and some pin stripe detail paint.

Hi Brant
Great pictures, thanks for posting. With regards to contact with the club you say you wrote to the club, if this was by snail mail our Post Office U/K computer system has been attacked and being held to ransom affecting all postage overseas, receiving or posting abroad. Contact Reg Holmes membership secretary through the club  Webb site should obtain the desired results.

The LDMCC Fairy transfer says, "LIGHT MOTORS LIMITED, BRISTOL, THE FAIRY". "Light Motors" and "Bristol" didn't appear in print after about January 1907 when the firm moved its base to London. So while the transfer might be appropriate for a Mk 1 Fairy, it would be out of place on a Mk 2 like this one. The "The Fairy" script currently on the tank is probably more appropriate.

Thank you for this information Leon.  I found the below six horsepower machine identified as a 1907; if in fact this is a 1907 model Light was still using a similar transfer decal.  So based on the serial number 105 and being a Mark II engine the transfer should read: Light Motor Limited, & London?  Does an original example of this decal exist any known cycles?

Thank you for your time and assistance,

Brant

Hutch

Hi Brant and Leon,

Maybe no sudden transition between the Bristol and London operations for Light Motors Ltd.? This from the Liverpool Journal of Commerce 11 Feb 1907 (and similar ads on 14th and 16th Feb 1907)

I guess  the decal would have "Bristol" on it for Fairies made there and "London" on it for the later ones - but the difficulty would be how to tell which from which - the engine number might be a clue ??

Edit: I presume Stand 58 was at the 1907 Manchester Motor Show

cheers

Hutch

No idea. This head transfer, in NZ, is probably Fairy Motor Co, London, which is later still.

Leon

Thank you to both Hutch and Leon for all the information.  The NZ headbadge transfer is a puzzler.  I can make out a crown at the top and wings at the bottom.  No matter how long I stare at this transfer I still can't make out what the image is in the center.

Its a nudie fairy - her right arm is down, her left arm is raised, and her wings are spread. Proper floaty fairy.

Hershey Brant

Thanks for that, now I see her, lovely!  It seems to possibly be the same artist/designer and/or transfer maker Sunbeam bicycle was using at that time.
