T35 Steering column bearings
« on: 06 Jan 2022 at 16:14 »
I have bought recently an T35 80Plus in a poor state, but a lot of the main parts for the "Plus" are there.
It was loose put together, without tyres and engine and gearbox outside the frame.
I find the fork loose in the steering column, with missing outer cup of the bottom bearing and a much to small top cup (MK1?)
I would like to know the dia of the later MK4 +5 top bearing and is also a difference to the cone nut (Item 5).
The Top bridge plate is also not fitting correct. May be it is selfmade or damaged bridge (I first thought the fork was bend).

I would like to know more about this problems.

I can add now:
the fork bridge is damaged, so the forkstem and the fork members do not fit! (see photo I put a bridge from my MK5 under the damaged one)
Has someone a precise drawing with measures of the holes or a spare bridge (late type MK4 / 5) or an other idea?

The top cup is also too small in dia (43,7mm). Is this right or is the head lug worn out?

I hope someone can help.

Michael
