I am trying to find out the correct length of the Amal 5/116/s  carb Throttle needle. I have found out you can shorten a 5/065 needle, but to what length?
The T/S6 both used this carb, could anybody out there let me know the correct Throttle needle length, none of the carb people seem to know.

Thanks Alan.

Hi Doug. Many thanks for your reply.
Did you shorten a 5/056 needle or make a complete new one?

Alan,

Neither. I been meaning to get back to the project for fifteen years! A friend in the UK supplied me with a Type 5 needle, and the plan is to alter that. I made the drawing because someone else was looking for the same info ten year back.

Doug, I will cut down  5/065 needle to your dimensions and try it.
The only concern i have is that I will be cutting off about 5/16" off the needle taper! won't that make it run very weak?
I will let you know.

Hi Alan
I had a batch of needles made for S6 using the drawing (above) supplied by Doug. These went into LDMCC Spares scheme. If they are no longer available I think that Martyn Bratby also has a stock. Regards  Chris.

Thanks Chris,
The LDMCC have the needles in stock and I have one in the post at the moment.
Thanks everyone for all your help.
