Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Does anyone have a name / code for the paint colours used on Dragonflies?  I'm getting a stone/green one soon and there's a few little bits to touch up I think.  Thanks a lot.

patrickwhitty

There is an article in the April 1989 Classic Bike on 'Buying to Ride, the Douglas Dragonfly' by Peter Watson. This gives the car paint equivalent colours for the stone and green as Stone; BMC El Paso Beige. Green; Vauxhall Conifer. Silver; Vauxhall Sebring.  I've never tried to get hold of these but I suppose they will still be available, or could be made up.

Unless you are going to repaint the bike, I suggest you remove the easiest part showing the colour and take that part to a paint supplier to match it.  Whatever code you get from your question is no assurance of a match unless you have the code that was last applied to the bike, unless it is original paint that has likely faded.

And if you read about, old hands advise that getting paint mixed up 'to a code' can result in different shades
from different suppliers/manufacturers. And even between tins of the same code !!

Best to get it matched from a sample of YOUR bike, as suggested above.
Gives you a sporting chance its at least in the ballpark.

Hi there,

These are the three colours I used on my Dragonfly...................

Rover BG17 El Paso Beige
Ford  Silver Fox
Rover GN29 British Racing Green

Kind regards Colin

RAL 1014 is a close match. Just had wheel hubs powder coated and its looks identical to the rest of the bike

So somewhere about these shades - note plural ?
