36 Aero 600 sprocket sizes

Good evening all,

I have coming to me soon a 1936 600 Aero, four speed, and according to the previous owner, it's quite "busy" and  not overly quick but accelerates well, and first gear is probably superfluous as is. As it lacks a centre stand, I suspect it may have been a sidecar machine, and it is probably on sidecar gearing? Did Douglas offer alternative sprockets for these machines, and if so, which ones did they change from solo to sidecar, and what would the tooth count for each be please?

Douglas center stands tend to lack durability; it might have simply been discarded. I do a kit of d-tube components for them.

Just because it is slow does not mean it was a sidecar mount, top speed on the 600 Aeros was something like a modest 62mph. That said, they did offer nine sidecar types (at least in 1937). The spares list for 1937-38 lists a 19 tooth sprocket (#16971) and a "Sidecar Sprocket" of 17 tooth (#17023). The rear brake drum (#16253-2) is stated as having a 51 tooth sprocket. No others listed.

I am in need of two sets of stand parts, one for the M32, and other for the Aero. Is it possible to send them to the UK? I have rolled up some D tube for a New Imperial rear stand that would do, but can't manage the cranked feature of the Douglas centre stand with the tools available to me now.

I've shipped the center stand tubing to several continents. It looks like the K/M32 would used the 'bent leg' style like the A31. I will check the inventory of each and send you a PM.
