Mk dynamo
« on: 17 Oct 2020 at 14:12 »
Not being blessed with a dynamo on my Mk4 project and noting the Douglas coyness in mentioning anything electrical or ancillary fitted to their machines, can I ask if the Lucas dynamo fitted as standard had a tapered shaft or a parallel one? What was the small gear that engaged with the magneto pinion, has it a Lucas part No? And ideas on where to find one.

In the absence of any other replies, I think mine had the standard type dynamo as fitted to many Magdyno equipped machines of the 1950's. I think the dynamo drive gear is 22 teeth, the dynamo armature is parallel with a key to the drive gear. Copies of the Lucas equipment catalogues covering these is for sale on flea bay UK.

Yes, the dynamo drive gear is the same as used on most MO series Lucas single cylinder magdynos.
