Comet 250 dynamo gear
« on: 25 Sep 2020 at 08:56 »
Hello everyone,

I am working on my Comet 250 and have found that the intermediate dynamo drive gear that sits in a bearing in the timing cover is missing. It's the one that mates the the top gear in the pic.
Are these available from anywhere or can someone pass on the details in order to make one? A sketch or photo with principle dimensions would be of immense help.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi looks like Doug beat me to it, I have one (tho I need 2) so if you need anymore info please ask but I’d decided not to get one made as the dynamos I have are next to useless so might be worth checking it does charge before you spend out to get one made..

Cheers

Its also worth contemplating how much actual night time riding you are likely to do before spending big on such things.
A fully/regularly charged battery (at home) will go a fair way if you don't actually ride it at night.

And it all looks like its complete and functional, without the big spend if you don't need it ...

Many thanks chaps,
I will use Doug's drawings to make the parts myself and get things back to as Mr Douglas intended.
I get more enjoyment and satisfaction faffing around (as my daughter says) making things than actually riding my bikes.

Thank again,
Mark

Well if you feel the urge to make 2 I might be interested at the right price  :) I could prob make the shaft but not the gear...
