Timing gears aero 250
« on: 02 Aug 2020 at 14:06 »
Hi this might be a silly question but what is the adjustment on the cam gears via the screw and locking nut?

Thanks

I might be wrong and then I would have missed something there but the slot just help to hold the shaft while you tighten the nut as, below the plate, these 2 shafts (actually 3 on my 600 AEro) are just plain round and are hanging from the plate.
Well not plain round actually as they have a lubricant spiral groove for lubrication.

Thanks Eric exactly what I wanted to hear as I presumed they were for adjustment on the gears but did nothing to the play when I moved one (I’m following on from a previous owner build so not had this off) should there be any shims in there as the gears have a bit of play?

Thanks

The gears are trapped axially by the tappets on either side face, so no need to shim.
