Rear wheel drive rim & V - Belt on 1912 2-3/4
« on: 05 Mar 2020 at 05:41 »
Morning All

After taking the wheels off to fit new tyres I found the V - belt drive rim was a little floaty presumably it should have no play in it ??

Thanks again in advance

Jeff

Yep, no play. Fixed securely to rim/spokes.

Jeff,
The usual setup is for the wheel rim to be laced up to the hub, then between every other spoke there is a short spoke lacing the wheel rim to the belt rim. These keep the belt rim concentric with the wheel. You should then have small plates, each with 2 nuts and bolts, to clamp the belt rim against the main spokes, to keep the belt rim running true. (there are probably 9 or 10 of these plates).

  Regards,
                 Eddie.

And the screws on the plates are almost always 5/32" BSW.
