Taps & Dies
« on: 21 Jan 2020 at 20:25 »
I'm looking for taps and dies for the various threads used by Douglas during the '20s and '30s. If you have spares or surplus items, please get in touch. Although the LDMCC has stocked these items in the past, they are currently unavailable. I need: 5/16 x 25 tpi, 17/64 x 25 tpi and 3/16 x 27 tpi.
Many thanks, Andrew

In addition, had the 5/16-25 tap made by the same tool company, also in HSS with TiN coating. Also same price, $40 each.

Never had the 17/64-25 tap made. Nor any of the dies as extrnal threads I just machine on the lathe.

Tracy Tools: Tracytools.com
are a good source in the UK. They usually attend the Stafford shows.
Cheers

I spoke to Tracy tools towards the end of last year and they had none of the odd ones that we need then. The only one that they could help with was the 7/32 x24 tpi   ( for the tank screws on 2 3/4 etc ) which is I believe a standard size .

7/32-24 is a Whitworth size, albeit not one commonly encountered!

Thanks all. I'm a good customer of Tracey Tools, but these sizes are too obscure!
Doug - I would like one each of the 3/16 x 27 and 5/16 x 25 taps. Could you advise cost with postage to the UK, please.
