1926 Douglas EW350 Wheel Offset
« on: 23 Nov 2019 at 17:47 »
I need to get the rear wheel of this bike rebuilt after it was stripped down to have a new sprocket fitted to the hub.  Unfortunately no one thought to measure the offset before it was dismantled.  I have seen one post on here that implies there is zero offset, can anyone confirm or deny this please?

I have a stray 26 EW wheel or 2, just eyeballing them they look to have zero offset,
the rims looks centralized between the flanges.

Although I don't know precisely how folks would measure any offset, if it was only a small measurement ?

Hi SteveTea. I will attach some photos of a spoked on brakedrum EW rear wheel to this post .  I ran a string line from the valve hole to as near as possible to centre on the opposite side of the rim.   I then measured both sides out from the string  to get approximately 7 mm offset . The brake drum is the larger figure .  Laying the drum flat on the bench it measured 57 mm from the side of rim  to the bench.  Just happens that I’m looking at respoking my rims soon.   Cheers

Interesting. I must compare measurements and methods.
