Douglas engine identification

Hi wondered if anyone could give me information on this engine please

'oil baron' is unable to post at the moment, but kindly sent in this information about the engine.

It is a Petter PU8, a 8hp unit of 1936-1945 vintage.  Large numbers we supplied to the War Dept. during the war, for a variety of uses, typically used on air compressor trailers used by the Air Ministry. There was also a “Portable" 4 kW generator driven by one of these units. Google Petter PU8 there is plenty information available,  There was a post war version which slightly different I think this was called the PA2.
