Plus clutch spigot oil thrower
« on: 08 Apr 2019 at 17:46 »
Just panicking after reading the thread about the plus clutch not operating.
One picture showed an oil thrower in front of the clutch spigot, but I havenít installed one as itís not shown on the exploded parts diagram, as far as I can see. In a box of parts, I do have a bit which may be what I need to insert. What are your thoughts?

The oil thrower is not a separate item, but is part of the gearbox coupling (SA2434). They are normally pressed on to the coupling, but can work loose - if that is the case, just retain it with a spot of Loctite. If your bike has the 'Plus' cork clutch, it may benefit from a little oil on it - when bone dry, Plus clutches can be extremely fierce in operation. The only down side of leaving the oil throwers off is that your bike will be even more prone to 'marking it's territory'.

  Regards,
                 Eddie.

Thanks, Eddie
I've just realised that the picture of the oil thrower is from the gearbox side so I've panicked for no good reason!
I have a standard friction clutch plate having been strongly warned against using the cork insert one which came with the machine.
Thanks again
Dave
