T35 Mk1 exhaust
« on: 26 Nov 2018 at 03:39 »
My T35 has the aluminium waffle box under the frame and the one I have has been welded and drilled all over. It is basically knackered!
Any body any ideas for locating a replacement or should I convert to the high level sports type?
Thanks
Stu

Hi Stu,

is a repair by welding possible (if you got no other box).
It is the original exaust for the MK1, is practical and looks good!

Itís possible, but it has already been welded and patched up. Someone has drilled lots of holes all over it to improve flow, obviously all coked up now. I have removed the badly welded patch and the original bottom is missing. Basically I would need to spend a lot of hours on it so I was looking for a better one to start with.

Thanks

Stu

Stu,
Be aware, if you fit upswept pipes, you probably wont be able to open the toolbox lid. Also, the original waffle box silencer had a tubular baffle (with slots down each side) behind the brass plug in the front of the box (there is often no sign of these baffles as they have suffered many years of slow rusting and completely disappeared).
