2 3/4 hp frame date
« on: 15 Nov 2018 at 22:26 »
Hello All,

Can any of the more knowledgeable members (than me)of this forum date this 2 3/4hp frame please? I have a frame number but it does not seem to correspond with some of the features of the frame that I believe to be veteran or during WW1. Maybe someone could tell me their opinion before I reveal the number.

Thanks in advance

Chris

Hi Chris,

Looks to be 1915 to circa 1919 to me. Rear stand mount design makes it post 1914.

Cheers

Ian

Hi Chris,
Yes, definately 1915 or later - rear stand mounted below the frame tube (instead of into the side of it), rear frame stay bolted on at wheel lug, and headstock lug larger in dia than frame top tube. (All features taken into account by the Sunbeam Club when issuing Pioneer Certificates).

  Regards,
                  Eddie.

Hello again,

Thankyou for the replies. I have clearly been mistaken in my understanding of the features of the earlier frames and when changes happened.

The frame number is 43414. Engine number 42312

These numbers would date the frame and engine to 1920.

There is a second 2 3/4 frame in the collection of parts but I cannot find a frame number. Any ideas?

Many thanks,
Chris
