toolbox lid screws
« on: 10 Aug 2018 at 11:06 »
Wanted,
A couple of the domed screws with knurled edges which hold the hinged cast  toolbox lids in place on a Mark 5 or Plus, (rather like the rocker box screws, but larger diameter, larger thread,  and without the screwdriver slot), in replateable condition,  please?
Thanks,
Roger

Are they the same as the ones used on the Mark 3 Sports pannier toolboxes? If so, the LDMCC Spare at one time had made repro toolboxes as well as the screws for the lid. Those might have been available separately, and maybe they still offer them.

The toolbox screws were slightly different for each model. When I was involved with the LDMCC spares scheme, we did stock them all, but I am not sure of the present situation.

Hi Roger h
Re tool box screws have a look at www.boneham.co.uk  they manufacture all sorts of fittings like lobe knobs and s/s thumb screws, you may need to change the screw thread. Cheers Phil 1.

Thanks everyone,
The toolbox lid screws are basically similar to the rocker lid screws, but have a larger diameter thread, the heads are larger diameter, they have heavy knurling round the edge, and they don't have the screwdriver slot as per the rocker lid screws.
I've checked with Dick, our chairman and spares guru, and the LDMCC don't hold any stock.

Thanks to a generous member, I now have a pair of correct screws, ex LDMCC. This means that I have 2 spare toolbox screws available, free to someone else, both with the correct threads, but smaller than standard heads.

The screws with the smaller heads are probably for the cast alloy Mk 3 Sports toolboxes.
