1936 Aero 500/600

Hi.. I'm restoring two old Douglas handed to me by my 86 y.o. father here in New Zealand ( he is still alive  :)  ) He disassembled them many years ago  :( and there are a few bits that are missing that I'm hoping someone may be able to help with.

The main parts so far are:

1: The two handle bar assembly mounts from the handle bars to the top of the girder forks.

2: The foot rest parts that go out from the frame and the rubbers attach to.

3: Petrol caps for the tank

4: Girder Fork  Damper Star Washers

Thanks Nigel

Nigel,
I think you need to confirm which model you have - Aero's were not made in 1926. It could be either a 1926 EW model or a 1936 Aero. They are totally different bikes.

  Regards,
               Eddie.

Nigel,

I can supply pictures of some of those parts from my 1936 Aero 600 if you need them for identification, but I don't have any spares.

Hi Doug.. If no trouble some pics of the handle bar mounting brackets from different angles and a ruler next to them for size reference would be great.. many thanks Nigel

Nigel,

I think Douglas introduced these handlebar clamps with the 1934 heavyweight models. There were only two variants, one for one inch handlebars, and one for 7/8 inch bars as used on the 1936 Aero onward. Otherwise they were identical. The center section is an machined aluminum casting. The two end saddles are steel.
