Throttle on 1930 350cc Douglas
« on: 25 Jul 2018 at 16:42 »
I´m working on a 1930 Douglas H3 and trying to keep the original condition.
Unfortunately the air lever (bottum part), combined with the throttle body has a bad repair, because the wire fixing was damaged.

Has someone an idea for repair? I´m afraid, there is no spare part available!

Michael,

I believe the combined twist-grip and lever control dates from 1935 onward. They are typical seen on the Aero models. Usually they break at the pinch clamp. The only repair is to build up the area with weld and re-shape it to the original contour. Unfortunately Douglas aluminum alloy has a very poor reputation for weld-ability.

Hi Doug and Darren,

thanks for replies.
My throttle has also a break at the clamp.
I can see that on your picture, Darren.
Are the throttle body "B" a repair?
