Front Brake Pivot Info/Parts 1926 OC frame
« on: 25 Jul 2018 at 02:24 »
I have attached a picture of a front hub I intend to fit to my OC type frame.  The brake pivot seems to be lacking some parts though as what is there will not be long enough to pass through the ~1 inch pivot point on the forks.  Can anyone fill me in on what I need with a picture.... and maybe the parts I am missing?

Thanks, Gord (Calgary)

Gord,

Something seems to be a bit non-kosher there. The basic setup should look like that in this post:

The shaft of the brake operating arm passes through the bushing in the girder and engages the bobbin of the single band brake.

Thanks Doug, that was a helpfu link and I will probably be posting shortly in the want ads for some parts relating to the lever and the lever shaft.

Gord,

The same brake arm shaft was used on nearly all models to 1938. The lever arm did change slightly; over time it became more robust. Initially the front and rear arms were identical, and then the rear was often made with a joggle to suit the model. The spline is identical to the camshaft drive of the DT.
