Does anyone have the specifications for the oil inlet valve spring for early 2 3/4 engines - Part number 424.   I have tried to order one from the club spares but apparently Jeff Swan is indisposed at the moment.

Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Gentlemen,

2 queries:

The small grease nipples located in the brake plate for the 'cam operating' shaft specific to the Plus (as opposed to the ones in the end of the shaft for the Mk series, Plate No 27, Pt No SA.1496), what size are they?

It appears that the 'cam operating' shafts for the plus are of larger diameter to the Mk item, is this correct for the Plus?

Happy New Year,Steve.I just looked at my dismantled Plus brake plates and the grease nipple on the rear item measures 0.185inch(3/16th inch) so maybe BSF OR 2BA?Regarding the 'cam-operating shafts',both of my Plus items, front and rear, measure 0.562inch (9/16 inch),and my Mark ones are both 0.496 inch (half inch).Hope you are keeping well these days? Best wishes,Ken Playfoot.

Ken,

All is well. Yes your measurements confirm my findings, thanks! Hope you are well

I'm pretty sure the small grease nipples are 3/16" BSW as opposed to BA.They are found on eBay under Bicycle parts;used I think around bottom bracket lugs of "racers".I spotted some this week.

Yes Brian, on my 90+ it is 3/16 bsf.

Here's a UK source,at least, for 3/16" BSF Grease Nipples. Beware of other offerings of 3/16" Nipples, with what look like threads but are annular ridges for drive fitting.

eBay ref number 142443423179  £7.95 inc UK post for Packet of 10 3/16" BSF Threaded Nipples

Supplier is
