Douglas 2 3/4 rear cylinder
« on: 16 Dec 2017 at 06:43 »
Hi

Does anyone know what model / year this Douglas cylinder is from?
It came with a box full of parts for 2 3/4 bike.

The inlet port being vertical is strange.

thanks
Brett

Hi Brett,
It is from a 1912 model that had a cast alloy inlet manifold.

  Regards,
               Eddie.

A one-year only cylinder. The 1910-11 also had a bolt on cast aluminum inlet manifold but atmospheric inlet valves and the exhaust valves were vertical. In 1913 they were back to the threaded gland joint on the inlet manifold. Having said that, 1912 was the first year Douglases started selling in large numbers so a fair number of 1912s have survived compared to earlier ones.
