Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

Hello everybody

What price would you pay for a good honest, working and complete 1927 Douglas Model EW 350cc?
What kind of price bracket one might expect?

Dear Eric
It hart to say what price is OK , but I saw some auctions on ebay and other websites and prices was from 8000-10 000 pounds

please look at here

I would suggest £8000-£12000 dependant on condition, provenance and your desire to own one.
I have a 27 EW and have to say I love it. It fits into my collection nicely, its a great reliable ride and it's not for sale.

The bike for sale from Andy Tiernan is the one that prompted my original question.
It seems to be in rather good condition.
I might be well be tempted...

Oily Bloke
is it a bike that is easy to drive in modern trafic? I mean can I drive it safely in town or is it more to be used during shows.

Hi Eric,

The bike looks quite presentable. As a vintage hand-change bike it takes a little getting used to, but shouldn't be too hard to ride in the countryside. I'd stay away from down town traffic unless you need to negotiate it on the way to the country.

Here's another EW we discussed recently . If you're interested in the bike, haggle pretty hard on the price. Expect dealer prices to be well about private prices.

Good luck,

oily bloke

The EW is a lovely bike to ride on the open road. Town/stop start traffic is a pain as the clutch tends to overheat and expand causing a bit of drag making gear changes awkward until it cools down. If you are used to lever throttle, poor front brake and hand change its fine. If not, a bit of practice and you will get it in no time. Mine will cruise quite happily at 45-50mph and pulls most hills in top.

My 27 is my wife's favourite bike I recommend the layshaft upgrade to the gearbox and its a pity balloon tyres are no longer available but it started first kick after a winters lay up for 3 years in a row.
