MK5 petrol taps.
« on: 09 Jul 2017 at 15:55 »
I'm going to reflush the tank on my MK5 and replace the slightly leaky petrol taps.
I would like to have the taps before I tackle the job. I think they're 1/4 BSP, but can someone please confirm before I order.
Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave,

you are right, it is 1/4" BSP thread for the taps.
I have repared my original taps with good results.
There is also an advice in "Spannerama".

Thanks Michael. The taps are OK, but the filters are shot & I've still got some muck in the tank. The bike is for sale and I don't want anyone to have problems in the future.

Unfortunately, our modern 'petrol' rots the fine brass gauze of traditional filters.
