Hello all , my name is Michael. I'm from Australia and have a great interest in the very early Douglas e.g. 1915 3.5 etc. I'm yet to own one but hope to soon.
Thanks for your site.

cheers Michael

Welcome Michael, thanks for your message. How did you develop an interest in the very early Douglas machines?

Hi again, I have had a photo of my Grandad astride a 1915 Douglas . He was a stretcher bearer at Gallipoli and the Somme AIF 7th Ambulance . After being injured he was sent to England came back an officer and the photo is of him on his way to a date farm in Baghdad.
As a kid I loved the picture and always wondered as to what bike it was. the people at the bike museum in Canberra ( moved now I believe) helped me identify it . To own one and ride the same bike my Grandad did is a dream that hopefully will come to fruition soon. So thats the story!

Trevorp , thanks for the information on the Wangaratta bike shop. I am happy to look at early twenties models as well.
I called the shop , none of that era that I am after but had a great chat , very nice people indeed! Thanks again

cheers Michael
