EW spark plugs
« on: 21 Sep 2016 at 12:19 »

26 EW

now filling in some of  the small holes...

what are we using for plugs?? ...do I have to make a couple of 18 to 14 adaptors??
my f-150 uses 18mm plugs...haven't looked...but I,m sure I wont find any ford plugs that don't have the "R "on them....  must be good plugs as recco to change is 100,000 miles...last ones I ran up to 170,000 miles...and new made no difference at all

I reckon I need non resistor plugs....magneto and all...

I use NGK A6 or AB6. Both 18mm plugs.
AB has the smaller hex suitable for your standard plug spanner.
Hope that helps
Andy

You can also get NGK A7, which run a bit cooler

Not sure if NGK actually do the plain A plugs any more - I was told by a seller that its all AB now - only difference being the hex size. They are pretty short thread length (about half inch from memory)

The short reach is what you need due to the part blind plug hole on the EW.

Good - yes my E28 is like that. The OC and TS both like longer reach !

looks good ol ebay has them here for $8.50
       you beauty's...

maybe a bit expensive but I only need 2
they don't have the "R"in the code but have an R on the porcelain...I put a note thru to verify non resistor...see if they even know  I do know I have a weak magneto.. until I have the dough for a rewind

A 18mm and B is 14mm and 6 is the heat range    why A and B? is that thread length and thread dia??

A refers to the thread diameter. AB refers to the thread form with reduced hex. 6 refers to the heat range.

I googled up to see what else a an AB6 might fit...
they are also a replacement part for a 1932 Mack...couldn't find much later engines that used that one..
I be going down today to get a pair
of a very minor interest...I imported a ford f-150 with a 300 six...  they use a one off plug... 18mm at that...but with a taper fit...
I needed plug replacements every 100- 150,000 miles...but NGK AUS didn't even catalogue that plug down here
I had some very frustrated auto parts employees...esp when the googled up and found that part number was  catalogued in other countries and just not made available to them

thanks to all of youse for the advice...greatly appreciated...engine is together and now onto the frame and wheels
