There are many different models of Douglas with a capacity of 349cc! Which type of Douglas are you after?

Hi Domas,

Don't be too put off by the 2-speed-no-clutch Douglas of the period - quite easy to ride once you get used to it.

Prefer why one now.
Sorry for my bad English.

Hello Domas,

I live not far away from you (near Halle /Saale).
I own 3 Douglas bikes, T35 Mk1, Mk5 and 90+.
There are some possibilities to buy a T35 model in Uk.
Tobuy a prewar seems to be difficult and expensive.

Hi Domas,

Depending on price, this might be interesting: http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23594/lot/303/

Good luck with that!

Someone might be interested in the Bonhams bike: it would appear to be a 2 3/4 with 3-speeds an clutch. (It also comes with a "spare" motor and gearbox, even if they are EW or similar! Go Bonhams.) On the top of the tank is painted "1914 Douglas Rebuilt 1948".

If anyone is going to the auction it would be worth a close look.

Cheers

Leon

Hi
This is still available, I think, I went and looked at it a week ago, the numbers are correct for year but it has had things replaced from later bikes, the cylinders obviously and this is noted on the pioneer certificate. it started and ran ok. its worth a look if the money dont matter, a bike up and running in unrestored condition that you can jump on and do the pioneer run

Wow, top dollar! Are 2 3/4s really selling for that sort of money?

Its an eBay classified ad, not an auction. So that is the asking price. -Doug

I went and looked at the offering, he stuck at the price even though there were a number of items that are not originaly 1913 but its up together and running in original condition.
As for lot 303 in the Bonhams Beaulieu auction, i purchased it, tis a 1914 2 3/4 with 2 speed, kick start and clutch, few bits missing but have most anyway, so new project

Well done with the Bonhams buy, Chris. I hope it comes together smoothly.

Re the high price of the ebay bike: Sellers are free to ask what they wish, just a buyers are free to decline to purchase. Some bikes, like the 2 3/4 Douglas, are sufficiently common that another will be available at some time in the future, perhaps a better example at a lower price, perhaps not. This, at least, gives us a chance to haggle with the knowledge that it won't be the last chance to buy the bike of our dreams.

Yet if you were rich (count me out!) and did pay too much, at least the bike is running  so you can get fun out of it without the struggles of restoration.

Cheers

Leon
