Pump mount on Mk3 Sport chainguard
« on: 18 May 2016 at 20:22 »
Hello, I have replaced the missing front pump bracket on top of my chain guard in the location that it was obviously attached before - but have now found it is much too close to the sprocket cover, with inadequate clearance, such that the pump bracket will interfere with the sprocket cover when the suspension is only partially compressed.
Now I believe the sprocket cover is from a MkV, since it was polychromatic blue under the grease, whereas the chain guard appears to be original.

Does anyone know if the Mk IIIS and MkV sprocket covers were different lengths?
Does anyone have an idea what length bicycle pump was that was fitted to the bikes?

Thanks!

Yep,

I came across the same problem, those in the know tell me that the Mk III/IIIS sprocket cover is shorter than the later Mk 4/5 etc.

Steve.

Thanks, that explains it then. I'll have to get a shorter pump and move the bracket.
