Hi Team,
I'm getting the magneto rebuild.
How many rollers should the magneto drive bearing have?
Cheers,
Simon

Hi All,
Further to my question yesterday please see attached photos.
Is this magneto drive as per original design or has it been modified?
Are one or more roller bearings missing?
Thanks for you comments/assistance.
Cheers,
Simon

Simon,
I can't comment on whether the bearing has been modified or not, but the normal practice for crowded balls or rollers is to have a 'full house minus one'.

Eddie.

Simon,
There should be a brass cage holding twelve 3/16 x 3/16 rollers. Though I am missing it, the book also mentions a fiber washer used as a face seal. There should be a spring and plunger in the end of the drive dog to keep the fiber washer under light axial pressure. I think I have the cage assembled the wrong way around in the accompanying photo. I doubt they would have the ends of the rollers open to the magneto gear.
