1928 EW kickstart
« on: 30 Nov 2015 at 13:17 »
The kickstart on my bike is locking up. It can be freed by rotating the flywheel manually. Can someone suggest the cause, please?

Mine is the same.
The quadrant fully disengages from the cog when the kickstart arm is released, when re-applied it does not always line up, tooth tip to tooth tip as apposed to tooth to root.
I think you have to live with it unless anyone else has any other ideas.
Hope that helps.
Andy.

My B29 had exactly the same issue but as always a great starter even after non use for several months, it became a standard procedure to kick over then rotate the flywheel by hand a few inches, then kick again....Alan..

Agreed - same on the S6, you just have to live with it. Thankfully they rarely take more than one kick to get started
