colour code 90+ a MK1 petrol tank
« on: 02 Apr 2015 at 14:56 »
Im beginning restauration of a 90 Plus. Can I get help for the gold colour code matching to the bike.  May be there is a modern one?

Im also unshure with the petrol tank of T35 MK1.
What type of blue is the "right" one? There are different pictures (in books and internet) with "middle blue" and a "light middle blue".

Do any one know the "right" colour?

I also could not find a photo from the top of the tank. Is the top panel black or also blue?

Hi Michael,

I would suggest joining the LDMCC ......they have a technical representative , which can supply the correct colour code . This is what I did a couple of years ( unfortunately I don' t have the code anymore...)

Hello Bert,

thanks for your answer. I`m already member of the LDMCC since some days. Unfortunately it is not possible to get in touch to the technical representative per email and I must find out, how it works with international letter for the answer.

There are also some more questions, because the bikes are not 100% complete.
Im also looking for a spares list including Plus 90 + 80 parts.
Before I try the LDMCC  I will use the forum to get informations for the restauration of the bikes.

I hope for answers.

Michael,

I have done some homework......correct colour number for 90 PLUS is as follows:

I.C.I Rootes 'autumn gold '
ICI ref. 068 2515 m

There is no separate spare list for Douglas 90/80 plus models......only a provisional 'maintenance instructions '....
Which is actually a small leaflet.

Finding spare parts for a 'plus 'model is a real challenge, sometimes you just have to remanufacture specific parts.

Bert

Thanks Bert!

I will find out, if it is possible to get a colour with this code.
I have never heard of ICI; is it british made?

Imperial Chemical Industries.....thats what it stands for, in 2008 it has been taken over by Akzo Nobel. Originated in Britain. Check Wikipedia.

It should not be too hard to decyphre this ICI number by a specialist car paint facility.

This number came from a reputed LDMCC member some years ago, I have used it for my own 90 plus.
