Footboards for 1917 2 3/4 hp

Can anybody advise me where to obtain information on footboards ?   Does anybody manufacture the alluminium boards ?  Does anybody have diagrams, sketches etc ?

In the photo guide to Douglas Motorcycles, there are some reasonable pictures of the footboards on my 1913 2 3/4. Would give you some idea.

this may be a poor way to do this..but the boards looked pretty good..

I have footboards available for 2 3/4, E.W. & 600 cc models.
Price per pair are £100 + Post & Packing and come as cast with a template for drilling the holes for the rubber inserts which are available from the LDMCC spares scheme

As far as I am aware alloy footboards were not introduced until 1924 when two different designs were provided. Firstly on the CW and SW 2.3/4hp models in which a plain oval alloy board with a raised lip all round extending higher at the front and rear. These simply sat upon the rear and forward extension tubes of the frame and were secured with alloy clamps from underneath. These footboards had 26 domed rubber buttons each side.The other design was used on the OB overhead valve models and although similar in design from the top was secured from a central pivot mounting under the centre of the casting on the forward cross tube.  The EW model mentioned by Tony was introduced in 1926 when it replaced the 2.3/4hp models as a complete redesign after minor tinkering of the original 2.3/4hp models from 1912 to 1926. It also has alloy footboards but these used a subframe for mounting and had only 13 flat rubber pads each side. 2.3/4hp models prior to the CW/SW models were available depending upon the model with either footboards or footpegs. Again as far as I am aware in all cases the footboards were made of wood covered in thick industrial brown linoleum and the edges of the boards bound in angled brass. (Sometimes nickel plated). Secured by simple "U" clamps on the frame extension tubes front and rear. I am willing to be corrected in respect of the period of the early 1920s in respect of perhaps other rarer models using alloy footboards before 1924 but am positive in respect of veteran 2.3/4hp and 4hp machines that these had wooden footboards of construction stated above. The quality also was very poor using the cheapest softwood. I have seen and indeed sold a pair of beautifully crafted wooden footboards machined from solid mahogany, stained and varnished but I can assure you that this was not how Douglas made them. Chris.
