Magneto Woes
« on: 24 Mar 2015 at 10:55 »
Hi Thanks to everyone who passed on advice and settings ,you will be pleased  to know that at last my Douglas books have  been found ! More importantly the problem with the bike turned out to be a home made contact breaker spring that lost its tension when hot ! this only showed up after a hours run on the Magneto mans test rig but after about 10 Kilometres the heat of the engine got the points not closing properly .This spring has been on the bike since I got it so fingers crossed it will now run better . Thanks Jeff

Sounds like this 'spring' could, in actual fact, be a bi-metal strip from something like a thermostat!!
