Have you tried the new Drafts feature yet? I just lost a long message today and learned my lesson. It is a good idea to save a draft of any long post you are writing. You can then just keep writing and keep saving a draft, knowing you have a backup if there is a glitch. The draft is automatically deleted when you post the message.

introduce my self and my new acquisition:

1926 CW :

obtained from that well known auction site - was located in northern NSW , me in Melbourne, Victoria.

so a road trip with son and dog in the 1961 falcon ute to collect last weekend, stopped at Tamworth country music festival on the way for a few days. then pressed on north to collect the douglas

approx. 2250mile / 3800km round trip

loaded in ute :

hit the biggest rain storms on way to collect at Casino and on way back around kempsey on the way back

its been restored years ago and not used .- seems all complete except missing exhaust  and front brake mechanism/actuating levers.

and nice sunset in Victoria on way back:

and home - in lounge !

plan is to get it on the road in time for the all british rally in newstead in april.

first things first need to find the front brake mechanism /actuating levers- anybody have  one ?

and do the exhaust

Dave@NZ

HI and welcome looks like you have found a very nice example. Looks like it was very well restored.
Dave.

thanks - yes is in really good condition - just exhaust and front brake mechanism missing

9triton

ok ,thanks to the help from a member on here have obtained some raw castings for the front brake actuating levers and the cut plates for the brake 'shoes'

ok thanks to a member on here have obtained some parts to start me off on the front brake.

the bike has the small pivot bolt still in the fork leg - and picked up another  set of forks that has the main pivot bolt in them .
so now have to fettle /fit /manufacture the components .

2 sets :(because you never know when another douglas  may come along ...)
