Repair Pot Metal Casting

The outer choke cable guide on the twistgrip body casting broke away during a retrospectively questionable "adjustment" of the cable slot width.
The body appears to be made of a zinc based alloy, judging by the colour, softness and lack of strength.
If possible, I'd prefer to "solder" the broken portion back on to the body  after grinding out the cracked area. Finding the right solder/flux is the question.
Has anyone tried any of the low temperature pot metal  repair kits  like   that  sold  by   Eastwoods (Alumiweld System)?
Interested to know of any successes, failures or recommendations.
