registration history
« on: 11 Aug 2014 at 22:52 »
Can anyone help with registration records for early motorcycles in the UK? My 1914 Douglas still has the original rear numberplate attached. When I look very closely at the numberplate it looks like it has another number painted under the visible number. The visible number (XD 2101) appears to have been roughly hand painted on, maybe at a later date, and is in itself hard to read now as most of the white paint has fallen off. Looking closer I can see neatly painted numerals under the top numbers. I would like to know where and when it was first registered if possible and if it had been subsequently registered somewhere else and at what date? Also would like to know when the registration expired. As I understand the bike originaly came from somewhere between London and Eastbourne. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards. Glen.
