Any idea of the origin of my registration plate ?
« on: 08 Jul 2014 at 13:08 »
I acquired my Douglas in Little Swanport Tasmania .The registration plate NV 1597 was on the mudgaurd. I've been unable to find the source of the plate .Any help would be appreciated.
Regards Michael.

Hello Michael, I purchased a Douglas Vespa about 3 years back and the seller of the deceased gents Vespa insisted that the rego was original from purchase date being NT701 and I think here in Qld there was only 2 letters and 3 numbers and I think this even modern bike regos. So I guess you can count out Qld but I would assume it to be from one of the Aussie states.

Hi There

Is it possible that it is a UK Registration Plate, I believe that NV may have been a Northampton Registration, as I once acquired an old bike which was not a Douglas that had a NV and a 4 digit number when I lived in the UK. The letter size appears similar to that was commonly used in the UK.

Best Of Luck

Can confirm that NV was Northamptonshire County Council.
