Hi,

can someone tell me where the difference in Gearboxes labeled WG/R, WG/T, and WG/O is?

Regards

knows no one?
or is it a secret?
I'm looking for my E31, a gearbox, and would not buy a wrong part.

Hi Manfred,
From the appendix on gearboxes in Jeff Clew's book, "The Best Twin" - the WG/R is listed as 'Gearbox, SB, with low reduction gearbox (600cc).  The WG/T is listed as  'Gearbox, SB, with new kickstart quadrant and shock absorber sprocket. T/S.' ( I think SB may be a misprint of S6)
Are you sure the other 'box is a WG/O? - there is no mention of such a model. There is however a WG/S which it is listed as '600 gearbox with close ratio gears'.

Hope some of this helps.

     Regards,
                    Eddie.

Hi Eddie,
thank you, you helped me a lot!
The book I unfortunately do not own. The name is WG/O or 0 (Zero).
It should also give a GB?

Manfred,

WG/O, WG/R, WG/T, and WG/T/S have all been reported fitted to S5/S6/T6 models, but so far it has not been determined what was different about the WG/O gearbox. The WG/ gearbox was introduced on the 600 EW of 1927, internal to the factory seemingly designated as the SB27. However the later designation SB I agree with Eddie as certainly a mistake for S6, as these gearboxes were subsequently fitted to that model.

Gearbox prefixes are also listed in the tables for identifying Douglas models, which can be found on this Forum.

Manfred,

WG/O is not in the appendices of the Jeff Clew book that Eddie referenced, but has been reported by owners of S6 models.
