The bike and sidecar are now sold.

This is a Douglas Jack was working on, but didn't quite finish. All of what you see has been reconditioned, with some finishing off for those who like to tinker. The idea was to build a sporty OHV Douglas to pull a sidecar.

The frame seems to be somewhat of an OC/DT hybrid: the steering head has taper roller bearings, the top tube is straight from the top of the head down to the DT gear-box and seat lug. A weird feature of the frame was the fitment of brake anchor lugs on either side of the rear forks (just the thing for same-side chain drive), and the joggles in the bottom frame rails.

The gear box is Sturmey Archer LS, with its own clutch. The plan was to fit a kick starter in the bottom frame cross member, with a chain up to the gearbox.

Motor is small air box DT. Stangely no engine number is obvious in the usual spot.

Sidecar chassis is Watsonian, and the aluminium panelled body is a very nicely built replica, with lovely attention to detail. Fully upholstered and lined. There is a sidecar axle with Douglas servo brake in the shed, and that can go with the outfit if required.

The tank is... you tell me! Looks Douglas, but no idea what it is from originally. Jack had this tank on his TT many years ago.

Anyway, this might be the bees knees if you want to do some vintage rallying on three wheels. Also happy to sell it without the sidecar if you'd prefer to go solo.

Yell if you'd like to give it a new home. More photos available.

Still available - this bike and the OB are the only OHV Douglases left in the shed. Just the thing for next year's Douglas Rally?

PM or email if you're interested; post questions here.
