The engine cover in the picture below has a tapped  hole adjacent to the thumb and I want to know the purpose before undertaking a repair. The hole is threaded and does not go through the casing. It appears to be for attaching something but I am not sure what. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Regards Lindsay

The threaded boss takes a stud for the front mounting of the guard over the primary chain.

I've just started restoring a similary Douglas. i had worked out that the tapping was for a stud to supprt the rather rudimentary primary chain guard. I am short of a a few parts but have other parts surplus to requirements. Do you have any spares or shortages?
