My Grandfather on his Douglas in World War 1

I thought I would put this picture of my Grandfather on the site. He was a strecher bearer at Gallipoli and then went on to the Western front. after which he joined the English army this is his transport in Baghdad. I have included the rear of the picture as it makes for interesting reading.

Regards Michael

Lovely picture! My Great Grandfather was also a despatch rider, he was in the Devonshire Regiment, he rode a horse though and was shot by a sniper in no mans land, I was told that the British troops in the trench were shouting get back to the trench and also the Germans were shouting at him to get back to his trench, he lost his leg below the knee but luckily survived.

Cheers, Steve
