Can someone advise the correct tyre size for a DT?

Thanks

Does it have wired-on or beaded-edge tyres?

Hi Rob,

If they are original rims (about 23" diameter, about 2" wide) they are probably 28 x 2 1/2" BE. Up until recently, the only available tyre was a "button tread" tyre from the USA. These are available in Black or White, but they are expensive and neither tyre will last very long if used on the road - perhaps a rally or two! Brian Forth told me recently that Ensign were considering making a 28 x 2 1/2" BE tyre, which would be a good tyre. If you're in Australia, perhaps check with him whether this is really going to happen: http://users.chariot.net.au/~brianforth/BeadedEdge.htm . Or a local dealer if you're in the UK.

By the way, although 28 x 3 and 28 x 2 sound close, they won't safely go on a 28 x 2 1/2 rim.

Cheers

Leon
