Hi I've recently brought a 37 250 Aero. There was no rear brake assembly but it did come with the following plate. Question is it the right part ? If so what else do I need. I've noticed some machines appear to have an aluminium plate. I've an exploded diagram of the assembly so I definitly need the brake drum to go with it, any help would be much appreciated.

Johnathan,
Not a Douglas baking plate. From 1926 to 1938, Douglas predominately used a eight inch diameter expanding single band brake. Sometimes servo assist, sometimes not. The brake bands are near all identical except for the direction of operation being CW or CCW depending on the situation. There is some small variation in the cast aluminum backing plate and the length and stoutness of the operating arm, as the years went on.
